"Land of the free and the home of the brave." A lyric so profound and true, and a reminder to never take for granted the freedoms we all benefit from. Friday, February 17, 2017 we were honored to partake in a celebration organized by Freedom Alliance.
Since May of 1990 Freedom Alliance has held a vision to advance the American heritage of freedom by directing the commendment and encouragement to our military service defending the sovereignty of the United States, and promoting a strong national defense. The Freedom Alliance does this in 4 distinct ways:
- To honor and support America’s military and meet the rehabilitation needs of wounded service members, combat veterans and military families.
- To care for the families of fallen with college scholarships for our heroes’ children.
- To help America’s leaders shape policies that prioritize the sovereignty of our people, the security of our country, and the safety of those who fight for it.
- To help philanthropic Americans experience the joy of making a positive difference on those who serve and sacrifice for our country.
As of recently, Freedom Alliance along with US Bank has branched out to purchase, renovate and donate homes for wounded soldiers in several states such as California, Minnesota, Florida, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Washington.
On February 17, 2017 Freedom Alliance turned over the keys to a home for retired veteran Army Sgt. 1st Class William "Joe" Haney.
Sgt. William Haney, a 30 year old single father of 6 year old daughter and beloved friend to many, served 12 years in the United States Army. He was deployed 4 times to Iraq and Afghanistan spending a total of 49 months in those countries.
As a result of his loyal service, Sgt. Haney now suffers PTSD and several other injuries pertaining to back and severe migraines. He took part of the elite Army Rangers, and at one point placed 7th in the "Best Ranger Competition".
Sgt. Harney's new home is located about 30 minutes Northwest of the Las Vegas Strip. Currently, he is attending school for Biology and hopes to become a Physician Assistant in order to help other veterans recover from their injuries.
The Original Roofing Company recognizes the selfless service of an American Hero and more than honored to be a part of this ceremony. We hope continued success for Sgt. Harney in achieving his goal of continual service to others who have sacrificed so much for our country.
